Zyon Cavalera, the 19-year-old son of SOULFLY mainman Max Cavalera, will join the band as its touring drummer for their next rampage through North America in early 2013.

Zyon, who is also a member of LODY KONG, previously played withSOULFLY during the band’s tour of Brazil in February 2012.

It is Zyon‘s unborn heartbeat that can be heard during the intro ofSEPULTURA‘s classic song “Refuse/Resist”, which appeared on the band’s RIAA-gold-certified “Chaos A.D.” album, released three years before Max‘s departure from the group.

Drummer David Kinkade (BORKNAGARARSISMALEVOLENT CREATION), who played on SOULFLY‘s latest album, “Enslaved”, left the band last month in order to focus on his personal life.

“Enslaved” sold 5,900 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 82 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band’s previous CD, “Omen”, opened with 6,000 units in June 2010 to land at No. 73.

“Enslaved” was released on March 13 via Roadrunner Records. The CD was recorded at TallCat Studios in Phoenix, Arizona and was produced byChris “Zeuss” Harris, the seasoned knob twiddler behind some of the most notable bands in metal today, such as SHADOWS FALL,HATEBREEDTHE RED CHORD and more.
