STONE SOUR and SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor says that “98 percent” of the $36,000 worth of musical equipment that was stolen was his home has been recovered.
According to The Pulse Of Radio, a police report filed with the West Des Moines, Iowa police department on Sunday (July 7) stated that the heist was committed by an apparent “friend” of Taylor and his wife while the couple was out of town. The Taylors discovered the theft after returning home from a monthlong European tour. Among the equipment that was stolen were two bass guitars from late SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Gray‘s signature line from Ibanez.
Taylor and his wife told police that they believed the friend had stolen gear from their house and storage units.
Another friend of the couple was able to identify some of the equipment at a local music store, while a different acquaintance apparently overheard the alleged suspect trying to buy some of the stolen gear back from a guitar store.
In a Twitter post earlier today, Corey wrote: “[I’m] PROUD to say we have 98% of the equipment back! Wouldn’t have happened [without] the [West Des Moines Police Department], my wife and the goodness of people! Thank you!”
Police told Taylor to change the locks on both his residence and storage units.
