Slipknot Frontman Talks Comic Books, Acting

The Pulse of Radio reports: SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor is one of the millions of fans who will head to theaters this weekend to see the long-awaited adaptation of “Watchmen”, the best-selling graphic novel that is considered one of the greatest comic book tales of all time. But while Taylor is a huge “Watchmen” fan, he’s even more enamored of a comic book series called “The Preacher”. “‘The Preacher’ is basically kind of a road story with a little religion, a little science fiction, a little Tarantino-esque kind of vibe to it,” he said. “It’s just one of the best comics ever. It’s funny, it’s intelligent, it’s grotesque, it’s offensive, it’s brilliant. It’s just a great story. Read it, and I guarantee you you’ll dig it.”

“Watchmen” comes out on Friday (March 6) and stars Jackie Earle Haley, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Malin Akerman, Billy Crudup, Patrick Wilson and Matthew Goode as a retired team of superheroes who uncover a monstrous conspiracy.

Taylor’s also a huge “Dark Knight” fan and does a pretty good impersonation of Heath Ledger as the Joker. But he says he doesn’t have much interest in acting in movies himself. “I have no aspirations to really get into acting, you know,” he said. “I mean, it’s something that — I’ve always wanted to write for movies, you know, I’ve always wanted to write a screenplay and I’ve written a couple in the past and what not. But yeah, if it happens, it happens, you know. It’s not something that I pursue.”

SLIPKNOT is currently winding down a 33-city headlining tour that stops in Los Angeles on Saturday (March 7) and wraps up on March 11 in Sacramento.

The band will headline Columbus, Ohio’s Rock On The Range festival in May and will hit the European festival circuit in June and July.
