Cannibal Corpse, Kataklysm // Fuzz Club, Athens, Greece // 27.07.2015

Monday is indeed a unusual day for a live event, even more when you have the pleasure to watch Kataklysm and Cannibal Corpse for the first time in your life. And although it’s the end of July and as I said again Monday they were a few hundred people which defied the awful high temperature and came to Fuzz for such an event!!

Kataklysm is one of those bands I love and I really looking forward watching them hit the stage. And with a small delay they stepped on that stage with a tremendous power. Entering with “To Reign Again” their performance was meant to be promising. Their sound was amazing loud but in some points confusing unfortunately. “If I Was God, I’d Burn It All”, “Push The Venom”, “As I Slither” are some of the songs that make our necks ache. Then it was time for some new songs from their upcoming album Of Ghosts And Gods and the first one was “The Black Sheep”. Some comments for Greece before and after some songs I don’t think made a big difference to the all experience. Now the second new song was “The Serpent’s Tongue” and although it’s a new one fans really looked to enjoy it a lot. The guys are machines on stage and Maurizio in a very good mood. When “Shadows And Dust” announced from his lips…hell broke loose!! Mosh-pits were growing mathematically by the song and to that point it was amazing huge. But their hour set list passed fast and they had to leave. And what a better way to say goodbye with “Crippled And Broken”. Damn that was good and loud!!

No words, no intros just came on stage and hit us in the face with “Scourge Of Iron”. That’s Cannibal Corpse people and I still can’t come to my senses.Sound like a tombstone falling on your head, technically amazing and never stopped to headbang. George “Corpsegrinder” is a fucking monster and you can’t stop watching him spitting those lyrics. The following abominations only made the chaos bigger, “Demented Aggression”, “Evisceration Plague”, “Stripped, Raped And Strangled”. This band is not kidding. They were horrific good and with no mistakes. And the massacre only became bigger with “Disposal Of The Body”, “Sentenced To Burn”, “Kill Or Become”, “Sadistic Embodiment” and “Icepick Lobotomy”.

These guys are really unstoppable. There is no luck that this band is one of the top of their kind. You can either headbang like no tomorrow or you can stare them like a zombie!! Either way they worth it!! Their set list had some more old classics like “I Cum Blood”, “Make Them Suffer” and none other than “Hammer Smashed Face”. “Devoured By Vermin” as their last song found us gathering our pieces from the floor.

Regardless the day (Monday) and the season (the end of July as I said) the night was amazing. This was the first time I saw both bands so I don’t have much a critical point of view. I think the first time of something is more from the fans view and that I liked more always. And when my ears and my neck hurts a lot…I know it was a good live!!
