BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME is a unique American progressive metal band with many releases on their back catalogue and “Coma Ecliptic” marks their seventh studio album.

“Coma Ecliptic” follows a lyrical concept – as did their past releases- involving a man stuck in a coma, journeying through his past lives, while trying to pursue himself if he should or shouldn’t move on! Quite interesting so let’s dig further.

BTBAM have their own sound that evolves and is reborn to something more exciting and more complex with every fresh release! Their sound expands from the lyrical themes of 70s progressive rock to the uber-death metal tones of modern progressive death bands. One could easily point out that, having the abilities to play and compose music with such variety and complexity, these guys own their instruments for real and that’s why they never lose a chance to play something out of the ordinary or shred every single moment if they feel the need to do so!

But beware you guitar and drum freaks! These guys not only shred for impression and amusement, but also write complex whilst easy-listening music…can you deal with something like that? If you can’t take progressive metal at all there’s a band to hate…but if you are a proghead then here’s an album to burn your mind to.

Of course there’s nothing bad or obscene to say or mention about the production. Everything sounds absolutely fuckin’ amazing! Precision, clarity, groove and their perfect sound puzzle just seems to complete itself as the songs move on.

If we dared to combine jazzy bossa nova keys and beats with double bass drumming death metal on top, mixed with clean tones and amazing vocal lines, we could somehow sum-up the sound of these strange guys…but the best way to find out what they are about, is placing your ears close to the speakers, close your eyes and enjoy their music maestry! What an AMAZING release guys!
