This is a real punch in the face. A disaster noone could warn me about. It’s times like these that you wish you were wrong, just because you know you aren’t.
What the fuck is this guys? Come on now, you have to be kidding me. Is this the Brainstorm I used to love and get obsessed with? No way. Where is the power? You are supposed to play power metal. This time the album emphasizes more on melody. Of course that’s not bad. Of course someone deserves to do a mistake once. But not this way. Not for them at least. Someone could say ”who the hell you thought Brainstorm are?” and the answer is that they have been for about 13 years a band that was characterized by quality, heavy albums and plenty of great moments. I can’t help but feeling sad when I see the nerve is missing totally, when I see lack of inspiration. If we add on all these the fact that Andy B. Franck sounds so different compared to other times (not only with Brainstorm but also his other band, Symphorce) then the band loses another wild card in its effort to convince me about its intentions. It is not a typical commercial-wise album but it fits not to their past. Needless to say that compared to its predecessor ”Downburst”, it loses the game before it even begins. They are used in making a great album and the next falls a little, but this is the downfall of the decade.
I can’t really describe my disappointment, fans of the band will find it so hollow and unworthy that could turn their backs on them. I have seen praises about the album and I wonder where all these people found that it’s their best record (!!!) or a step forward (!!!). All I have to wish is that it was just a bad moment and it was time for them to experiment a while (…) and they won’t do it again. I still can’t believe my ears. It is not only bad for them but a bad album generally.
Wake up guys before it could be very late. I still count on you, don’t let me down that much again, I won’t cope with it.
