ELUVEITIE: ‘King’ Video Teaser

A teaser for "King", the new video from Swiss folk metallers ELUVEITIE, is available below. The song is taken from the band's new album, "Origins", which will be released on August 5 via Nuclear Blast Records. The cover artwork for the CD was created by ELUVEITIE frontman Chrigel Glanzmann and can be seen below. The effort was once again recorded at New Sound Studio in Pfäffikon, a municipality in the canton of Zurich in Switzerland, with producer Tommy Vetterli (a.k.a. Tommy T. Baron; CORONER/ex-KREATOR guitarist). "Origins" track listing: 01. Origins 02. The Nameless 03. From Darkness 04. Celtos 05. Virunus 06. Nothing 07. The Call Of The Mountains 08. Sucellos 09. Inception 10. Vianna 11. The Silver Sister 12. King 13. The Day Of Strife 14. Ogmios 15. Carry The Torch 16. Eternity Says Chrigel: "'Origins' deals in depth with Celtic mythology, or, to be more precise, with aetiological tales from Gaul in particular. Hence we're facing strongly mythical as well as spiritual subjects on this album, topics which we have approached very scientifically and in cooperation with several scientists and diverse universities. "Many aspects of Gaulish mythology and spirituality remain in the dark nonetheless, while others run through the theme like a golden thread — like this eminent, yet innominate god, for instance, of which the Gauls claimed to be direct descendants and which was compared to the Roman chtonic deity Dis Pater. "Today we cannot say which Gaulish god this was exactly. But according to all we know, it's likely that we're dealing with Sucellos here. Throughout space and time he appears over and over again — from very old spiritual customs of ancient Gaulish tribes in today's northern Spain all the way to later statues in today's Switzerland, France and elsewhere. Perhaps he is this mysterious nameless one. "The album cover of 'Origins' is designed after the hammer/club-shaped 'halo' of Sucellos, as seen on a statue, that was found in a shrine of a gallo-roman household in today's France. It was created under the scientific supervision of experts from the university of Zürich." ELUVEITIE recently announced the addition of violinist Nicole Ansperger to the group's ranks. ELUVEITIE's last album, "Helvetios", sold 4,200 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 143 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD landed at position No. 3 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

ELUVEITIE Checks In From The Studio

On March 7, Swiss folk metallers ELUVEITIE were awarded one of Switzerland's most prestigious recognitions in music: a Swiss Music Award in the category "Best Live Act National." ELUVEITIE was chosen to receive the honor after a highly competitive fan voting, marking the very first time ever for a metal band to receive this award. ELUVEITIE has now returned to the New Sound Studio to begin work on the follow-up to 2012's "Helvetios", once again with producer Tommy Vetterli (CORONER) at the helm. Says the band: "As always, working with Tommy Vetterli is as efficient as it is creative: both drum and guitar tracking is already completed! "We have now begun work on the folk instruments and vocals at New Sound Studio, Lucerne's Soundfarm Studio, and Chrigel's [Glanzmann, vocals] home simultaneously. "We are extremely proud of the new material and can't wait to present yet another big step in the evolution of ELUVEITIE later this year! "We were also able to secure a bunch of exciting guest performers, the first of which we have recorded last week: the wonderful Christine Lauterburg. "Not only is Christine one of the most original musicians in Switzerland, but she's really a living legend! Like no other, she has practiced and perfected the age-old tradition of Swiss jodel over many decades. She has set many milestones in the history of Swiss folk music, and delivered valuable contributions to the research and preservation of a tradition that may reach back all the way to the early ages, and originated with the Helvetian celts. "We are proud to have Christine in our ranks. Her singing adds just that much more archaic authenticity to our sound, and contributes to the primeval rawness that will define our new album!" ELUVEITIE Wins SWISS MUSIC AWARD For ‘Best Live Act National’

On Friday, March 7, Swiss folk metallers ELUVEITIE were awarded one of Switzerland's most prestigious recognitions in music: a Swiss Music Award in the category "Best Live Act National." ELUVEITIE was chosen to receive the honor after a highly competitive fan voting, marking the very first time ever for a metal band to receive this award. Watch ELUVEITIE accept their award at the Hallenstadion stadium in Zurich during a massive two-hour show on live television at this location. Commented the band: "Now that we have recovered from Friday night's events (although our minds are still blown), we would like to say a few words: "Winning a Swiss Music Award for 'Best Live Act National' is certainly one of the highlights of our career, and an immense honor. However, it is not just our honor, but yours to share with us: this award goes out to all of you! "The stage at the stadium in Zurich [Friday] night was as much yours as it was ours. It is also not simply a recognition of our most recent activities, but the result of many years of hard work and amazing times. "We want and have to thank each and every one of the amazing people who have worked with us and supported us in any way during the last 12 years. There are many, and listing them here would exceed the scope of this message. Please take the time to visit our website, where we have tried our best at the futile attempt to list all their names: "But most of all, we want and have to thank all of our amazing fans all over the globe, who stood with us, supported us and came to our shows. Our die-hard fans, our incredible fan clubs (in particular in Brazil, Poland, and France), all the members of our official forum and everybody who voted for ELUVEITIE, joining forces with us to show the whole music world how strong metal really is! This award is your award! You all rock! "Even more motivated we now return to Tommy Vetterli's New Sound Studio, where recordings for our new album have started last week already. ELUVEITIE 2014 is going to be a big one!" ELUVEITIE recently announced the addition of violinist Nicole Ansperger to the group's ranks. ELUVEITIE Parting Ways With Longtime Violinist MERI TADIC

ELUVEITIE will amicably part ways with longtime violinist Meri Tadic at the end of 2013. The "Eluveitie & Friends III" festival, which will take place on December 28 in Frauenfeld, Switzerland, will mark her final appearance with the Swiss folk metal act. States the band: "'There is an end to all things' is a saying. Nevertheless, having to say goodbye is never easy. "Meri has been an important part of ELUVEITIE for 11 years; we have played hundreds of shows around the globe together! "We will miss Meri, but foremost we want to say: Thank you for 11 years spent together! "Every ending means a new start and a new chance. "We are looking forward to working with Meri's successor very much and to have new musical influences this way. "We are in the midst of a creative working progress for our new album. In this sense, this means: Excitement and creative mode: ON!" Adds Meri: "After 11 years of ELUVEITIE, I have decided to go a new way and leave the band. "I have lived a wonderful and unique time with this band. On stage and during our countless journeys, there have been difficult, demanding times as well. "My decision has nothing to do with IRIJ and the album I released in January. "Many of you know that IRIJ was founded years ago but that it never had any influence on the band. Also, my album release has nothing to do with the time of my departure. This really is a coincidence. Still, I will be working with all my strength to move forward musically, and thus I now focus on the new output, the first live shows, rehearsals, new influences and possibilities. "It is not easy to find the right words. "The past 11 years have been a magical time; through and through and I have lived and enjoyed them with all my heart. "A part of me will surely keep on living within ELUVEITIE, 'cause this has never been just a band but lifeblood to me. Therefore, I want to thank all of our wonderful fans around the world at first. You have been a most priceless enrichment to my life and I will always think back happily to the times we have been through and to all the passion I have seen burning in your eyes, fists and faces! Thanks for celebrating us every single night! Without you, we would never been around!!! "My brothers and sister Chrigel, Anna, Ivo, Päde, Kay and Rafi I wish the best of luck, success and joy on the ongoing way. I will miss your pretty 'flutfaces' and hope you will behave yourselves out there. All that we have lived through together will never be forgotten and I am proud to see how much we achieved together. Make me proud and rock the world, my dear friends. Hope to see some of you on tour again. Sometime, somewhere… "To conclude this statement, I would like to quote one of the best metal bands of all time, without whom I might never have started to play the fiddle in a death metal band. 'We are blind to the world within us, waiting to be born! "Cheers to all, let's not be sad, but by joyfull!!!"
