"Aftershock" sold 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 22 on The Billboard 200 chart. MOTÖRHEAD's previous CD, 2011's "The Wörld Is Yours", opened with 7,000 units to enter the chart at No. 94. The band's 2008 effort, "Motörizer", premiered with 6,400 copies to debut at No. 82, while 2006's "Kiss Of Death" registered a first-week tally of 3,500. "Aftershock" was recorded at NRG Studios in North Hollywood, California and is described in a press release as "a true leveler, a crushing confirmation of everything MOTÖRHEAD stands for, marching from the dust storm to deliver 14 belting statements which see MOTÖRHEAD in perhaps their best writing form for years. There's swagger, there's punch, there's speed and there's dirty filthy grooves, Lemmy Kilmister, Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee showing clearly that MOTÖRHEAD is not simply a band, it's a genre!" The clip incorporates concert footage from this year's Metal Hammer Golden Gods awards ceremony in the U.K., a 2010 Manchester gig and several 2011 shows (including Rock In Rio, Germany's Wacken Open Air Festival and Teatro Caupolicán in Santiago, Chile). Fans who hang on for the credits at the end of "Heartbreaker" may be surprised to learn that the video's sketch art was created by frontman Lemmy Kilmister. MOTÖRHEAD canceled a handful of shows on its European festival tour in August 2013 after Lemmy suffered a haematoma (where blood collects outside of a blood vessel). The news of Lemmy's latest medical issue followed reports that he was also fitted with a defibrillator because of heart problems. The band has since also postponed a European headlining tour which was scheduled to kick off in November.

SLASH Says MOTÖRHEAD’s ‘Aftershock’ Is ‘One Of The Most Brilliant’ Rock Albums That Has Come Out In A Long Time

In a brand new interview with Independent.com, legendary guitarist Slash (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER) was asked what still excites him about playing guitar. "I don't know; I just love playing guitar, and it seems the longer I've been doing it, the more I love it," he replied. "I've never really stopped to think what's really at the bottom of that. I just go with it." Slash also spoke about how touring now compares to touring with GUNS N' ROSES. "It's actually comparable to GN'R in the '80s, except for all the drugs that happened back then," he explained. "I really enjoy it, it's a lot of fun, and I like the pace of it. We do anywhere from five to six shows per week, and I love that; the more I do it, the more I love it." Regarding whatnew music has caught his attention of late, Slash said: "The latest record that I'm really in love with is 'Aftershock' by MOTÖRHEAD. I think it's one of the most brilliant rock 'n' roll records that has come out in a long time. I also really like the new BLACK SABBATH record." Asked what kind of advice he bestows upon young kids who want to pursue music, both for hobby and as a career, Slash replied: "As a hobby, it's a hell of a lot of fun, but as a career, it's a hell of a lot of work. Patience, perseverance, and practice — those are the three things that come to mind, and those are things that I still practice today. It's a never-ending process, but at the same time, if you love what you do, it's very rewarding." Read more from Independent.com.
