And again a band from Sweden did its miracle and made me stuck with a CD for a long period of time. I always love any metal release from this country. I am an unremedied fan of all the Swedish bands and I do confess this. In addition Aeon play the music I like the most. The band was born when Defaced Creation split up. Four members of the band form Aeon in 1999 and since 2001 they record blasphemous albums.

As most of the bands that are in the same path with Aeon, they flirting with the right amount of black metal elements. The fast tempo drums and the high pitched guitar riffs – on a few moments – are two basic elements that decline the band towards black metal. But do not expect black metal in this CD. Neither the vocals nor the whole aesthetic of “Aeons Black” are in that direction. It is purely death metal except the lyrical themes. Eventually this is death metal in all of its greatness.

So to continue with the music facts on this release I should say that Aeon will blow your mind. The guitar work is brutal and it blends with the drumming perfect to make you headbang all the way. The rhythms are alternate crazy enough from high speed tempo to slow and fiery bridges. You can hear “Garden Of Sin” to have a taste for yourself. The solos are there and they appear like a hidden menace would do. All the songs have great orchestration and the skills on composing death metal are obvious on this Swedish quintet. Another spot I would like to note is the instrumental-intros that appear on the CD. There are four of them that are appearing on “Aeons Black” and in the right moment where you would like to take a break on the endless headbanging.

On most of the tracks they have choruses that are nailed to your brain. I have caught myself humming (if this is possible for a death metal song) a song of them many times. That I believe is a great symptom of their lyrics combined with the brutal voice of Mr. Tommy Dahlström. His vocals are straight out of hell. He did make a magnificent job singing, or better I should say screaming, his blasphemous wishes. You should listen to “I Wish You Death” to witness what I am talking about.

There are no more words. As a whole this CD is great death metal work, but I enjoyed mostly songs like “Maze Of The Damned”, “I Wish You Death” and “Aeons Black”. All of you who like death metal with the most anti-Christian blasphemous lyrics just as Deicide, Hate Eternal and Vital Remains you will love this one. If you are not into any of these I warn you, stay away. They come from Sweden and if you haven’t heard of them yet you should do it with no delay.
