The award was accepted by SLAYER guitarist Kerry King, who gave a short speech, saying: "Before SLAYER, I would go to the mom-and-pop stores — that's what we had back then; we didn't have the Internet — and I got one of the, probably first five Kerrang!s ever, and I still have it today." He continued: "In a day of dying magazines, Kerrang! still exists. I've got all those ones from way back when, I've got all the ones SLAYER was in. And that's pretty cool; you can't really say that anymore. "But anyway, thanks to Kerrang! again. "SLAYER is alive and strong, and we will see you on the road." Comments SATYRICON frontman Sigurd "Satyr" Wongraven: "I'm about to start my last day in the studio! I had my first February 2nd, so it has been a while, you could say. "I know I might have to a day of recalls (minor adjustments) and there is mastering too, but this is pretty much it. "Today the record will be complete. "Throughout the mix, I have redone a couple of vocal things that needed it and I had some keyboard and piano ideas that I have added. Guitarist Dimebag Darrell was tragically killed in 2004 but his legacy remains undiminished. "PANTERA had an enormous influence on nu-metal, groove metal, metalcore, and grindcore and continues to be publicized and written about. Its 1990 breakthrough album 'Cowboys From Hell' is still regarded as one of the greatest metal albums in history, as is PANTERA's sixth opus, 'Vulgar Display Of Power'.

KING DIAMOND Attends ‘Heavy Metal And Punk Fossils’ Exhibition Opening In Denmark

When a scientist discovers a new and unknown fossil, he gets to give it a scientific name. Some choose a name that reflects the shape of the animal, some choose a name that relates to where it's found, and others choose to name them after their favorite rock stars. A new exhibition, "Heavy Metal And Punk Fossils", explores this more amusing part of natural history by focusing on a series of bizarre fossils that all are named in honor of rock stars. One of the pieces on display will be a 420-million-year-old worm with huge jaws, which carries the nameKingnites Diamondi, named by Professor Mats Eriksson, from Lund, Sweden, after the Danish metal maestro King Diamond. Another equally old and ferocious-looking worm is named Kalloprion Kilmisteri, after Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister of MOTÖRHEAD. Other fossils that are portrayed in the exhibition are named after members of AC/DC, BAD RELIGION, SEX PISTOLS, and RAMONES. And although not very metal, a fiercely looking dinosaur, Masikasaurus Knopfleri, is named after Mark Knopfler fromDIRE STRAITS.

Norway’s DØDHEIMSGARD To Release New Album In October

Vicotnik (a.k.a. Yusaf Parvez) of the Norwegian band DØDHEIMSGARD(DHG) has issued the following update: "Once again, it is time for me to write a few words to you, the creatures. "A lot has been going on in the DHG camp since last we spoke. Mental institutions, jail time, forced therapy, drugs, fistfights, anger, regret, more therapy. You name it, we've done it. "Well, I am not aiming to talk about the past, but rather speak a bit about where we find ourself in the present. "You might have noticed some shows coming up, but I am not really in the mood to speak about this topic. Much more importantly is the gap between 2007 and 2013, it needs a physical expression. And what better way is there to shed a light on six years of absence than through your artform?
