BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE: New Song ‘Raising Hell’ To Be Premiered On BBC Radio 1’s ‘Rock Show’

A brand new song from Welsh metallers BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE entitled "Raising Hell" will be premiered on the November 18 edition of BBC Radio 1's "Rock Show" with Daniel P. Carter. "Words cannot express how excited I am for the world to hear #RaisingHell," says BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE frontman Matt Tuck via Twitter. "We haven’t just raised the bar, we've sent it into fucking orbit." An audio sample of "Raising Hell" can be streamed below. BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE drummer Michael "Moose" Thomas told Billboard.com in a recent interview that the band has "already started writing for the next album, which is completely different from [this year's] 'Temper Temper'." "It's definitely more of a step towards our first two records," Thomas said. "We always like to keep changing our records and our sounds and stuff. I think you have to change, otherwise it gets boring for us and the fans get bored. Look at all the great bands through rock history; they changed on all their albums — especially METALLICA. Their albums have always changed, and they're the biggest metal band ever. So we just want to keep changing and get to another level each time out." Tuck told the U.K.'s Rock Sound magazine, "We're actually going to start working on the new record before the (U.K.) arena dates (in early December). We've got (producer) Terry Date coming over from America, we'd like to work with him, he'd like to work with us so we're gonna have a bonding session, write a couple of songs and see how it goes." Date is known for working with heavier acts like PANTERA, WHITE ZOMBIE and DEFTONES, while BULLET's previous producer, Don Gilmore, is known for more commercial fare like LINKIN PARK. Tuck said about hiring Date, "When we worked with Don, he was very much focused on chopping parts out and making things concentrated, now we want to work with someone who has worked with bands like PANTERA and DEFTONES, where that mentality was probably not in the game at all. We want someone to go 'it's not big enough' or 'it's not metal enough' and keep us focused on our talents." Tuck told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that he had no regrets about the band exploring its more melodic side on its last two albums. "The big thing that we've learned is, like, you're not gonna please everyone all the time," he said. "As long as you do what you want to do and the band is happy and you feel you haven't given away your integrity, you know, I don't really care if people go, 'Oh, it's not metal enough, it's not heavy enough.' It's like, that's not what we are."

ANGRA: ‘Stand Away’ Performance Clip Featuring TARJA TURUNEN

Brazilian melodic metallers ANGRA celebrated the 20th anniversary of the release of their 1993 debut album, "Angels Cry", with a special concert on August 25 at HSBC Brasil in São Paulo, Brazil. As a means of celebrating its successful trajectory, the band took the opportunity to schedule a small tour through Brazil and Latin America, which culminated with the show in São Paulo, after 11 dates. If there was any aura of uncertainty towards the future, ANGRA shook it off for good with a very special concert, truly a night to remember. As guitar player Rafael Bittencourt put it, "For those who think we should quit, I tell you: we're just getting started". That pretty much summons up the very apparent joy that the band showed onstage, not only that night, but on the whole tour. A stellar team of guests made everything even more special. Tarja Turunen, formerly of NIGHTWISH, lends her talent and angelic voice on two songs: "Stand Away" and Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights". On the latter, the legendary Uli Jon Roth (SCORPIONS) is also featured, and shows why he is such a reference for the majority of guitar players around the world. The Brazilian string quartet FAMILIA LIMA appears in three songs, and drummer Amilcar Christopharo, from the band TORTURE SQUAD, grabs the sticks on "Evil Warning", representing the metal bands from Brazil. "Angels Cry 20th Anniversary Tour" will be released as a separate DVD and a double CD, containing over 20 tracks in total and extra behind-the-scenes footage captured during the latest tour. A performance clip of "Stand Away", taken from "Angels Cry 20th Anniversary Tour", can be seen below. ANGRA's setlist was as follows: 01. Angels Cry 02. Nothing to Say 03. Waiting Silence 04. Lisbon 05. Time 06. Millennium Sun (intro w/ Kiko Loureiro on keyboards) 07. Winds of Destination (intersection w/ Kiko Loureiro on keyboards) 08. Gentle Change 09. The Voice Commanding You (Rafael Bittencourt on vocals) 10. Late Redemption 11. Silence and Distance (intro w/ Kiko Loureiro on keyboards) Acoustic set 12. JOURNEY Donates $350,000 To Help The Philippines In Aftermath Of Super Typhoon Haiyan

Manila native and JOURNEY lead singer Arnel Pineda announced today that he, JOURNEY and their team — promoter Live Nation Entertainment; Creative Artists Agency (CAA); and manager John Baruck — are donating more than $350,000 to provide emergency food relief to people impacted by the recent super typhoon in the Philippines. These initial funds will help the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) provide Filipinos in urgent need of food assistance with more than 1.4 million meals. "Don't stop believing, help is on the way for the people of the Philippines," said Arnel Pineda, who is leading the efforts to mobilize the coalition of partners. Pineda, based in Manila, plans to meet with World Food Programme's executive director Ertharin Cousin Saturday at WFP's Philippines headquarters in Manila to announce the donation. The largest storm to ever make landfall, Super Typhoon Haiyan caused catastrophic damage, with more than 615,000 people displaced. When disaster strikes and hours can mean the difference between life and death, the UN World Food Programme is among the first on the ground to provide life-saving assistance.

EXODUS Singer ROB DUKES To All The Haters: ‘Go F**k Yourself’

Jay Nanda of San Antonio Metal Music Examiner recently conducted an interview with EXODUS and GENERATION KILL singer Rob Dukes. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below. San Antonio Metal Music Examiner: Fans who know you strictly from EXODUS will get to hear [GENERATION KILL] songs that still keep your vocal style at times while often including a melodic side, without compromising the band's heaviness, such as in "Prophets of War", "Death Comes Calling" and "There Is No Hope". Is mixing it up a nice change of pace for you? Dukes: Absolutely. Not to take anything from EXODUS. I love doing it. I mean, it's fucking killer. But EXODUS is a thrash band, pure and simple, and very aggressive, and that's what I do there. I listen to more diverse music, so to be able to bring that into the fold is the object of the whole thing. I didn't want to start another thrash band, you know? Me and Rob Moschetti both grew up on [IRON] MAIDEN, BLACK SABBATH, early [JUDAS] PRIEST. We surrounded ourselves with guys who like the same stuff, and we just fucking went out and wrote songs that — you know, we're not reinventing the wheel here. So we just basically wrote songs that we like, that we wanted to hear. Not only play but songs we wanted to hear. So we stole a little bit from here, we stole a little bit from there. It wasn't like we sat down and said, "Let's steal from these albums." But those are the albums that shaped me as a person. Like when I was a kid, those first two IRON MAIDEN albums, SABBATH albums and early PRIEST were the stuff that I grew up on. And RUSH, PINK FLOYD — bands of that era. I appreciate you saying that it doesn't lose anything. Even though it's got some mellow stuff, it's actually dark and cool and seemed to fit. If it didn't fit, we wouldn't have done it, you know what I mean? San Antonio Metal Music Examiner: What's the latest with EXODUS? I'm sure with Gary [Holt, EXODUS guitarist] filling in for SLAYER for obvious circumstances, his participation has taken place a lot longer than you guys probably anticipated. How has that affected EXODUS going forward? Dukes: Well, we haven't toured as much. That's apparent. We've got way more down time than we're used to and had in the last 10 years, so that's one aspect I'm not really a big fan of. But that's how we all make our living, so we had to go out without him. It was what it was. Wish he was there, but listen, the guy's in SLAYER. I'm not going to begrudge him for that. That's awesome for him, and I know he's having fun doing it. I think eventually, when we do this new album which we're doing in February, he'll find a way to do both. There's a lot of people who do multiple things in life. Financially, it'll be good for him to have two incomes. I think we're going to find a way in 2014 to make it all happen. San Antonio Metal Music Examiner: I remember interviewing him a couple years ago by phone, and Gary was telling me how much heavier he thinks [EXODUS] has become since you took over on vocals compared to the previous singers. I've gotta agree. I don't know how you feel about that, but a lot of bands these days that have been around a long time kind of level off or don't get as heavier, and obviously you can't say that about EXODUS. You guys just seem to be heavier and crunchier with every record. Dukes: Yeah, I think so, man. I hope I'm carrying the torch well. I try not to read into the comments on fucking Blabbermouth and all the fucking haters. There's certain people that won't let go of the past. I realize, for the past, that's what it is for them. They love the time in the past, and I get it. Not everything is better than the original, and I never claimed to be. I claim to be doing this. Paul [Baloff, original EXODUS singer] died, unfortunately, so he's not here. So I'm carrying the torch. Zetro [Souza, former EXODUS singer] fucking quit. He fucking walked in one day — he didn't even walk in. He just didn't answer his phone and said, "I'm not doing this anymore." And he quit. And now he wants back. You know what? I think we're heavier. The first album, "Bonded By Blood", was so fucking dark, dude. Lyrically and just darkness. And then I think they went in a direction that kind of took away the darkness of it. By the time I joined, they were back into the dark. They were moving back in that direction. I stepped in and I said, "I'll carry the torch. I'll fucking do it." For the people that don't fucking like it, go fuck yourself. That's all I got for you. Fuck you, you know what I mean?

Report: Orange Goblin, Stonebringer – Athens, Greece

It’s been numerous times that British heavy metallers (as they like to declare themselves) Orange Goblin have visited our country and this time they came short enough compared to their last year gig. Once again we had a tremendous professional behaviour towards the fans and I was very happy to see many new young fans entering the show. A sample that the youth of today find quality in the really essential bands and don’t get affected by the hype of the era or the needless effort of media to promote bands that don’t deserve it at all. This time we also had a very good support band that made its presence more than notable and the whole show finished just two hours after its beginning in half past nine, so everyone had easy access to transportation and left more than satisfied. Stonebringer is a Greek band that plays the American style of sludgy heavy rocking metal music and they are surely showing they are proud of it. Two guitarists that also share the vocals and bang their asses and heads, a bassist that follows them where needed and also can’t stand still even for a second and a crazy but also very capable drummer that hits everything hard and loud is what you’ll see in this band. I apologize to the guys for not knowing them so far, but I really declare myself a fan of them and I suggest everyone who encounters them in the future to take a good notice of them (and buy one of their very elegant t-shirts as well). Imagine a mixture of Pantera, Crowbar, Down, some Clutch (or even Orange Goblin) here and there and hints of Black Label Society. Music for beer, beards, filth and riffs until the end. Well done to the guys, who gave all they had and gained the sincere applause of the crowd. I wish them the best to come. Orange Goblin is a live guarantee every time you see them. The result is always the same (if not better) and the only thing that changes is the t-shirts the band members wear and the amount of beard they carry. When a gig starts with ‘’Scorpionica’’ which is most times the last track they play, you understand they came to conquer everyone from the first second. It was show number 147 for this year as they said, but they didn’t show any sign of tiredness or lack of fun. With tracks such as ‘’Acid Trial’’, ‘’Saruman’s Wish’’, ‘’Round Up The Horses’’ and ‘’The Fog’’,

MESHUGGAH Is ‘Excited’ About Returning To The Studio

Guitarist Mårten Hagström of Swedish experimental extreme metallers MESHUGGAH was interviewed on Chile's Radio Futuro before the band's November 12 performance at Teatro Caupolicán in Santiago. You can now listen to the chat using the SoundCloud player below. A couple of excerpts from the interview follow. On MESHUGGAH's plans for the immediate future: Mårten: "This is kind of the finishing end of the 'Koloss' tour. We're coming off this and then we're doing India once again and then we're, like, out. We might be doing a couple of anniversary shows next year, but that's about it. So what's gonna happen now is come December, we're gonna look at writing a new album. We always do that — it's, like, two more years or touring and then two years of writing the album. And then it takes a little while before the albums actually turn up. So we're feeling pretty excited about that. 'Cause it's always, like, when you've been doing one thing for a long time, it's always nice to switch it up — go from touring back into the studio, and then when you're fed up with the studio, you switch back out to the touring. So that's good." On how MESHUGGAH's latest album, "Koloss", compares to the band's albums: Mårten: "That's always hard given the fact that if I'm comparing it, I'm compating it to a bunch of different albums that are different by themselves. But if there's one thing that I think we're kind of happy with regarding 'Koloss', it's, like, we like the songs and all of that, but the thing is how the production and the material came together to form maybe a little bit of an atmosphere, a little more organic and a little more groovy than before — not a hundred percent as machine-like to the feel as the older stuff. And that was something we wanted. We didn't wanna lose our spirit, sort of, but we wanted to go for what was important right now, and that was to make something more dense. And everything around us is, like, focused on, especially with all the talk about the 'djent' scene and everything, there's so much stuff going on that's solely focused on technicalities and the technical aspects and how you do this when you tweak this and how's the guitar set up and blah blah blah. That's great, but we still wanna remind ourselves [to] focus on why we're doing this — because we love playing music, and music is an emotion, it's not a math effort. So that's why we wanted to do it that way, and we're happy we succeeded — for us. It sounds the way we wanted it to." As previously reported, MESHUGGAH is featured on the cover of the November 2013 issue of the Indian edition of Rolling Stone magazine. MESHUGGAH will perform at the Bacardi NH7 Weekender festival in India at the end of this month. The fourth edition of the festival will feature more than 200 bands across six stages in four cities.

ZAKK WYLDE Says New BLACK LABEL SOCIETY Studio Album Should Arrive In April

Eric Blair of "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show" conducted an interview with Zakk Wylde (BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, OZZY OSBOURNE) at the Bass Player LIVE! Concert & Awards Show, which was held this past Saturday night (November 9) at the historic Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The concert honored heavy metal legend, BLACK SABBATH's Geezer Butler, and featured an all-star band of rock luminaries performing BLACK SABBATH songs as a tribute to Butler. The performance culminated with Geezer joining the band for the finale. Zakk's chat with "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show" can be seen below. BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's new live DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital Video, "Unblackened", was released on September 24 by Eagle Rock Entertainment. Wylde's label home, eOne Music, also released the audio version of the "Unblackened" DVD under the same name. The double disc release has six additional tracks not found on the DVD, including two acoustic versions of "Queen Of Sorrow" and "Won't Find It Here", and covers of LEON RUSSELL's "Song For You" and BILL WITHERS' "Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone". Since their early Nineties inception, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, formed and helmed by guitar legend Zakk Wylde, has been at the forefront of hard rock. Their penchant for hard riffs and blazing solos has resulted in a slew of hugely successful albums and a reputation as one of the most powerful live bands of their generation. "Unblackened", however, unveils another side of the band. Filmed and recorded on March 6 in high definition at Los Angeles' Club Nokia, "Unblackened" is BLACK LABEL SOCIETY presenting their songs in a whole new light, with greater use of acoustic instrumentation. Wylde plays both guitar and piano, with Nick Catanase on guitar, John DeServio on bass/vocals, Chad Szeliga on drums, Derek Sherinian on keyboards/piano, and Greg Locascio providing additional vocals. Their stripped-down approach highlights the subtler nuances of the songwriting, without losing any of the fire or intensity. Classic tracks like "Stillborn", "The Blessed Hellride", "In This River", "Throwin' It All Away", "Losin' Your Mind" and many others are still punctuated by the stinging, searing solos that fans know and love, while showcasing the versatility of the band. In addition to the concert, "Unblackened" is rich in bonus material. A new interview with Zakk, photo gallery, music video for "Losin' Your Mind", and a feature with Wylde visiting HM Prison Stocken in the U.K . are all included.

MAX CAVALERA: SEPULTURA Was ‘Taken Hostage’ By ANDREAS KISSER

Thomas Stanley Orwat Jr. of RockMusicStar recently conducted an interview with Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, SEPULTURA, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY). A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below. RockMusicStar: You have recently written an autobiography. When will it be released? Max: Yes, it's coming out in February in America. It's called "My Bloody Roots", and it's out in Brazil already and Poland, and it's going to come out in America in February. I've been working on this book for the last three years. I did thousands of interviews, and Dave Grohl [FOO FIGHTERS, NIRVANA] did the introduction of the book. He wrote a really cool introduction; it's really funny. It's a great book; it's got a lot of cool people in it, like Mike Patton [FAITH NO MORE], David Vincent [MORBID ANGEL], Sharon Osbourne. It's an amazing book. It's gonna tell my whole story. It's gonna tell about the split; I finally tell the truth about why I left SEPULTURA. All the stuff that happened, all the tragedies that happened, and then there's some funny stuff, like puking on Eddie Vedder [PEARL JAM], and shit that happened in my career and my life. They're all crazy stuff. Everything's gonna be in the book, and it's going to be great for people to read that. RockMusicStar: Wow, I can't wait. That's awesome. How is it doing in Brazil? Max: It's doing really good, man. It's gonna probably make the best-selling list of the Brazilian books, and we're very excited about that. People in Brazil are very excited, they are reading the shit out of it. I get a lot of comments on Facebook, from my wife, she does Facebook, and gets a lot of people talking about how much they love the book, and has really, really great reviews. A lot of people especially like the part when I talk about the split from SEPULTURA, because I really explains my side of the story, about how I really felt, and why I left my own band. And a lot of people, after they read that, they will understand. And, for them, it makes sense that I did what I did, that I left SEPULTURA. They would have done the same. After they read it, they understand why I did it, and it makes sense after you read what I said about the split, you'd think that it was the rational thing to do, for me, was to leave them, you know. Even though it was my own band from the beginning, it was kind of like, all of my integrity, you know, and that's why I decided to leave. It's going to be great. It tells all of those stories, and puts kind of a final stamp on the whole "SEPULTURA split" shit, and talks about SOULFLY and how it was created, and how cool SOULFLY was building over the years, and the cool people I worked with. Sean Lennon is in the book, Corey Taylor [SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR] is in the book, all talking about how it was to work with me, and I think it's going to be great. I can't wait for people in America to read it. It's going to come out through a company called Jawbone. They're going to distribute the book in America. RockMusicStar: I always wondered about the SEPULTURA thing. I always thought to myself, I mean, I don't know the all the little nuances about the spilt. That's why I'm looking forward to reading your book, but, I always wondered why you didn't just fire everyone from SEPULTURA, keep the name, and find replacements.
