TOMMY LEE Says ‘Celebrity’ Is ‘The Most Misused Word Ever’

MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee has posted the following message on his Facebook page: "I'm a celebrity….really? "I think that means being famous, having pissed on the world's fire hydrant, leaving your mark for years to come and making a dent in the globe the size of the hole in the ozone? "The world's view of a celeb today is the most fucked up, watered down bullshit I've ever seen. "I've been in this game for many years now and the abundance of lame TV shows really sets a gruesome standard. Stupid shows about finding love on national TV? Partying in Jersey? Trapped on some island? Celebrity REHAB? The B-C crew that weren't celebs in the first place!!... Celebrity apprentice? If you are a celeb, why are you looking for an internship?

SLASH Talks Solo Band, Possibility Of Classic GUNS N’ ROSES Lineup Reunion

In a brand new interview with John J. Moser of The Morning Call, legendary guitarist Slash (GUNS N' ROSES, VELVET REVOLVER) spoke about the current lineup of his solo band, dubbed SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS, which features Myles Kennedy (vocals), Brent Fitz (drums), Todd Kerns (bass) and Frank Sidoris (guitar). Slash: "I only called [Myles to sing on my self-titled 2010 solo debut album] because I'd heard a lot about him… I was really curious to see what he sang like. And since I was doing this record with all these different singers, I asked him to come in. And he was just phenomenal, and … I really liked him as a person. You know, his whole personality and his attitude and everything really jelled with mine. "The longer we knew each other, the more I really just liked working with him. I thought we had a really great chemistry and we started writing on the road." "I put together what I thought was, you know, a quick pickup band [to tour in support of the first record]. But it turned out to be, like, the perfect bunch of guys. And I just thought that, after we'd been on the road for awhile, we should just go in the studio and make a record with these guys."

MACHINE HEAD Featuring New Bassist JARED MACEACHERN: Toronto Fan-Filmed Video Footage

Fan-filmed video footage of MACHINE HEAD 's July 10 performance at the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival at Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada can be seen below. Bassist Jared MacEachern (pictured below) made his live debut with MACHINE HEAD on June 24 in Spokane, Washington. Some fans might remember MacEachern from MACHINE HEAD's 2007"The Black Tyranny" tour, on which he performed with his previous band,SANCTITY. MACHINE HEAD, challenged to find a fill-in bass player for the North American tour after an injury sidelined their then-four-stringerAdam Duce, also found themselves in need of someone to sing harmony with singer/guitarist Robb Flynn. Earlier this year, MACHINE HEAD conducted an extensive search for candidates through various channels, the most fruitful of which proved to be video submissions. Sifting through more than 400 videos, the band personally reviewed and evaluated everyone's performances, includingMacEachern, who made the short list without a second thought.

THE 69 EYES To Release Second Graphic Novel At FANGTASIA III

This summer, gothic boutique publisher Seraphemera Books & Music will continue to reveal more of the history from Helsinki, Finland-based gothic metallers THE 69 EYES in the second part of the three-part series The 69 Eyes: Helsinki Vampires. The second issue of the trilogy will premiere on July 20 in New Orleans at Fangtasia III — the yearly summer vampire event co-produced by THE 69 EYES singer Jyrki 69 and series co-writerKurt Amacker. Pieced together from a secret story hidden in six of the band's songs, and certainly confirmed from hints dropped in countless articles and quotes, Book 2 brings you the tale of the formation of THE 69 EYES that you would never find on Wikipedia or in the bio section of any record company's web site. "This is the cult, in the old skool way! I wish THE CRAMPS had the same in the '80s..." commented Jyrki 69. The story follows the vampire Jyrki as he travels to Los Angeles in the heyday of its raucous death rock scene. The urban witch Christina Deathhas summoned him from across the globe, even as their intentions are entirely at odds. What follows carries them from L.A. to Paris and then to New Orleans, in a spectacular vampiric odyssey of love, loss, and obsession.

ICED EARTH To Enter Studio On Monday

Metal4 magazine conducted an interview with ICED EARTH guitarist/mainman and singer Stu Block at this year's Rockharz open-air festival, which is taking place July 11-13 at Airport Ballenstedt in Harz, Germany. You can now watch the chat below. ICED EARTH has set "Plagues Of Babylon" as the title of its new album, tentatively due in January 2014 via Century Media Records. Speaking to Metal4, Schaffer said about the upcoming CD: "It's a bit of a different thing for us, because it's half of a concept and the other half is [standalone] tracks. Musically, I think it's just another step in the right direction. It's really heavy, it's very melodic. It has a really epic feeling. Even though there isn't, like, a monster, long epic track, the overall feel of the songs is very epic. I mean, there's no 'Dante's Inferno' or'Gettysburg' or the 'Something Wicked' trilogy or something like that on here, but I'm really happy with it and I'm really excited to get in and start recording. That's like my main…. I really wanna start. Monday, finally [we go in to begin laying down tracks]." Songtitles set to appear on "Plagues Of Babylon" (among others):

COREY TAYLOR Says 98% Of His Stolen Musical Equipment Has Been Recovered

STONE SOUR and SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor says that "98 percent" of the $36,000 worth of musical equipment that was stolen was his home has been recovered. According to The Pulse Of Radio, a police report filed with the West Des Moines, Iowa police department on Sunday (July 7) stated that the heist was committed by an apparent "friend" of Taylor and his wife while the couple was out of town. The Taylors discovered the theft after returning home from a monthlong European tour. Among the equipment that was stolen were two bass guitars from late SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Gray's signature line from Ibanez. Taylor and his wife told police that they believed the friend had stolen gear from their house and storage units.

ALICE COOPER Says He Is ‘Three-Quarters Of The Way Through’ Covers Album

Legendary rocker Alice Cooper has told Billboard.com that he is "three-quarters of the way through" a covers album featuring songs that were originally written and recorded by THE DOORS, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon and THE WHO, members of the so-called "Hollywood vampires" of the early and mid-'70s. A 2014 release is expected. "We're really happy, all of us, everyone involved in the covers because it's pretty much what we wanted to do," Cooper said. "We specified a certain time period and said, 'Let's stay within that. Let's not move it around too much.' We don't want to be doing cover songs from the 80s and 90s when the Hollywood vampires kind of thing was more '73, '74, '75." Back in March, Cooper told RollingStone.com about the upcoming CD: "We do a thing in our show, which is a tribute to Hollywood Vampires, my drinking club," Cooper explained. "And it was Keith Moon, John Lennon,Harry Nilsson, Micky Dolenz — a very eclectic bunch of drunks. Half of them are dead, so we do four songs in the show in tribute to them. We do'Break On Through', 'Revolution', 'My Generation' and Jimi Hendrix's'Foxey Lady'. I just kind of said, 'We've never done a covers album, let's think about that.' So [producer Bob] Ezrin and I are kind of bouncing it around right now."

GEOFF TATE On Possibility Of Reunion With QUEENSRŸCHE: ‘Absolutely Not. What On Earth For?’

Tate: Ah, yeah, of course. It's not really a matter of losing from my perspective, it's just being done with it. I definitely just want to be done with it, I'm already emotionally done with it, I've ripped off the rearview mirror and I ain't looking back. I don't want to look back. The court date in November is to settle what we have, which is a corporate dispute and corporate disputes have a set formula that's regulated by the state and the government to how the case is settled and really when it all comes down to it, it's just a matter of compensation and that's what it'll be. EzineArticles.com: I remember in the 1980s the David Lee Roth/VAN HALEN split and the METALLICA/Dave Mustaine feud, both got pretty ugly at times, do you see the same thing happening between yourself and your former band? Tate: Well, I hope not. Yeah I hope not, I hope it's all settled peacefully and civilly and we can go on our merry way, you know.
