JUDAS PRIEST, the heavy metal legends whose influence on generations of musicians and metalheads is incalculable, celebrate their 40th year as recording artists with the global cinema release of the live concert"Epitaph". A unique live career retrospective, "Epitaph" will be shown at two very special cinema events — one in New York at the Clearview Chelsea on May 14 and the other at London's Forum in Kentish Town on May 24.
JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford and guitarist Richie Faulkner will introduce the New York screening of "Epitaph". The event will be hosted by "That Metal Show"'s Eddie Trunk.
Former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen will release her new album,"Colours In The Dark", in Europe on August 23 via earMUSIC, the Hamburg, Germany-based international rock label which is part of Edel Group. The CD wil be made available in North America on August 27 through Eagle Rock imprint Armoury Records.
The cover artwork for "Colours In The Dark" was created by Dirk Rudolph and can be seen below. Also available is the artwork that will grace the CD's "special edition."

Arutz Sheva conducted an interview with SLAYER drummer Dave Lombardo prior to his May 1 drum clinic at the Barby Club in Tel Aviv, Israel. A couple of excerpts fom the chat follow below.
Arutz Sheva: You were born in Havana and grew up in a Cuban family. Did you grown up in a traditional religious Cuban family?
Lombardo: Yes, very traditional. My dad never even learned English. He just went to work, found a job, worked for a family, bought a house, and then retired. He lived the American dream without speaking a word of English. It still amazes me. My mom can speak some English, but not too much. So the home was fully Cuban. I heard Spanish all the time. When I stepped outside the house, I was in America and when I came home, it was Cuban music, Cuban food, and television in Spanish.

Comments CHILDREN OF BODOM guitarist/vocalist Alexi Laiho: "'Transference' is a straight-up CHILDREN OF BODOM to-the-core-type song and therefore was a good pick for a video and obviously is one of our favorite tracks. It always had an evil vibe to it, which I wish I knew how to explain because it still gives me chills… Enjoy!"
German metallers PRIMAL FEAR will enter guitarist Magnus Karlsson's Stuntguitar Studios in Sweden tomorrow (Tuesday, May 21) to begin recording their next studio album for an early 2014 release via Frontiers Records.
After collecting more than 30 song ideas, the band finally stripped the list down to 12 tracks.
Frontiers and PRIMAL FEAR in January announced that they have renewed their partnership for another multi-album deal, which will include two more studio releases and one live CD and DVD.
Norwegian black metallers SATYRICON recently entered the studio to begin recording their new album for a late 2013 release. The band's frontman, Sigurd "Satyr" Wongraven, states in a new online posting: "The recording is coming to an end. Next week will be the last before the mix. Finally some light at the end of the tunnel after almost four months of recording! Right now I am just looking forward to share this with you and see what you think. It will be a while though, but it will be worth it. I am sure."
SATYRICON's new CD will feature a guest appearance by Sivert Høyem, the Norwegian singer best known as the vocalist of the rock band MADRUGADA.
Beyond The Watch recently conducted an interview with guitarist/vocalist Alexi Laiho of Finnish metallers CHILDREN OF BODOM. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
Beyond The Watch: You guys are set to release your eighth studio album, "Halo Of Blood" (via Nuclear Blast on June 11). Can you tell us a little bit about the record and what went into the making of the album?
Alexi: I started writing, I think, last September maybe, when we got off the road. I took a month off or something and I started writing and then we went hit the studio late December and the whole thing was mixed and mastered by the end of February.
MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine was interviewed for the cover story in the June 2013 issue of U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.
Metal Hammer: Is there a tiny part of you that enjoys provocation?
Mustaine: No, I don't say things to get a reaction. The stuff that I write about is important to me. Some of the subjects on "Peace Sells…" are still relevant, particularly environmental issues. And the personal stuff is relevant. I've written songs about loss and pain — everyone goes through that so, no, I'm not being provocative. We actually have fun songs too. If you're pissed off, the title track on "Super Collider" or "Symphony Of Destruction" might make you feel better.
Los Angeles-based, occult-themed, female-fronted traditional heavy metal band HUNTRESS will release its sophomore album, "Starbound Beast", on June 28 in Europe and on July 2 in North America via Napalm Records. The CD was recorded at Hobby Shop Studios in Los Angeles with producer Chris "Zeuss" Harris (SHADOWS FALL, HATEBREED,MUNICIPAL WASTE). The cover artwork for the CD will once again be created by Vance Kelly (THE SWORD, GRAVEYARD, HIGH ON FIRE,PENTAGRAM, ALICE IN CHAINS, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, DEATH ANGEL), who previously worked on the group's debut album, last year's"Spell Eater".
"Starbound Beast" will include the track "I Want to Fuck You to Death", which was co-written for HUNTRESS singer Jill Janus by legendary MOTÖRHEAD frontman Lemmy Kilmister.
