According to Deccan Chronicle, around 600 people used fake tickets to attend Bangalore Open Air 2013, billed as Asia’s biggest heavy metal festival.

The July 6 event, which included performances by North American metallers ICED EARTH, the Swedish metal band DARK TRANQUILLITY, former EMPEROR frontman Ihsahn and Norwegian progressive metallersLEPROUS, ended up losing money after some “miscreants had very cleverly copied the genuine tickets and also the gift voucher for the event.” Each ticket was priced at 2,249 rupees, or about $40.

Salman Syed, one of the organizers of Bangalore Open Air, told theDeccan Chronicle “the font was different on the fake tickets,” which were sold for just 1,000 rupees each.

German thrashers SODOM canceled their appearance at this year’s Bangalore Open Air several days prior to the event due to unspecified contractual issues with the promoters of the festival.
