MOTÖRHEAD’s LEMMY: ‘We Will Be Back’ To ‘Kick Everybody’s Ass’

MOTÖRHEAD frontman Lemmy Kilmister says that it was a "tough decision" to cancel the remaining eight shows on the group's European festival tour due to his recent health struggles, but assures fans that he and his bandmates will be be back to "kick everybody's ass." Lemmy suffered a haematoma (where blood collects outside of a blood vessel) last month, forcing the band to scrap a handful of dates. The news of Lemmy's latest medical issue followed reports that he was also recently fitted with a defibrillator because of heart problems. In an official statement, MOTÖRHEAD said: "MOTÖRHEAD deeply regret to disappoint all fans this summer. The band decided to cancel the summer shows. Doctors strongly advised that Lemmy needs to take his time to get his body back in balance. To achieve this, the doctor and Lemmyagreed that it would be best to take it easy for a while. While saying this, we can assure that the fall tour will be as explosive, loud and incredible as ever."

PURIFY Signs With DEADLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT

French dark hardcore metal band PURIFY has inked a worldwide deal withDeadlight Entertainment. The group's debut album, "Hail Suicide", is scheduled for release in the fall. The CD was recorded by Fotis Benardo(SEPTICFLESH, CHAOSTAR), mixed by Terry Date (PANTERA, LIMP BIZKIT, DEFTONES) and mastered by Howie Weinberg (METALLICA,THE BEASTIE BOYS, NIRVANA). SCORPIONS: ‘MTV Unplugged – Live In Athens’ Due Before End Of Year

On September 11, September 12 and September 14, German hard rock legends SCORPIONS will play three concerts in Athens, Greece under the banner "MTV Unplugged - Scorpions Live In Athens" at the Lycabettus Theatre over the roofs of the ancient city. For the first time in the history of the "MTV Unplugged" series, a concert in Greece under the open sky will take place. The SCORPIONS will perform their biggest hits, album classics as well as some exclusive new songs in the typical sound and arrangement of "MTV Unplugged". They will be supported by national and international surprise guests, to be announced at a later date. Says the band: "'MTV Unplugged' was already top on our wish list and therefore we have gladly accepted the offer to stage these concerts as part of our farewell tour. MACHINE HEAD Frontman: ‘I Definitely Consider Myself Lucky’

Earlier this week, Linda Leseman of LA Weekly conducted an interview with guitarist/vocalist Robb Flynn of San Francisco Bay Area metallers MACHINE HEAD. An excerpt from the chat follows below. LA Weekly: I was going to ask you where you think your musical talent comes from, but then I read that you're adopted. Do you know whether your biological parents were musicians? Flynn: I don't know my birth parents. No one in my adoptive family was musical. We would listen to music. It's kind of funny because I wasn't raised with metal. All of my early musical experience was the Beatles.
