NEWSTED Says ‘There Is A Chance’ He And MUSTAINE Will Perform METALLICA Song On GIGANTOUR

Former METALLICA bassist Jason Newsted has revealed that he and MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine may perform a classic METALLICA song on the upcoming Gigantour. Newsted, who quit METALLICA in February 2001, is the frontman of a new band, simply called NEWSTED, which was recently this year's edition of Gigantour, the critically acclaimed package festival founded in 2005 byMustaine. Mustaine, who was one of the original members of METALLICA, was fired from the band by drummer Lars Ulrich in 1983. He was replaced by Kirk Hammett and went on to form MEGADETH and achieve worldwide success on his own.

SEPULTURA Guitarist Issues Recap Of European Tour, Offers Update On Upcoming Album

Brazilian/American thrashers SEPULTURA will reunite with producer Ross Robinson (KORN, LIMP BIZKIT, SLIPKNOT) to record the band's next album, tentatively due in October via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD will be tracked in June at Robinson's studio in Venice, California and will be co-produced by Steve Evetts, who previously worked with SEPULTURAon the "Nation" (2001), "Revolusongs" (2002) and "Roorback" (2003) albums, in addition to having collaborated with Ross on a number of other projects in the past. Comments SEPULTURA guitarist Andreas Kisser: "[I] can't wait to do this one; [it] is going to be our strongest work ever. We have 13 songs ready to go plus two covers, one from DEATH and another one from the Brazilian group CHICO SCIENCE E NAÇÃO ZUMBI." BLACK SABBATH singer Ozzy Osbourne recently spoke to U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine about "13", the first SABBATH record in 35 years to feature Ozzy, guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler all playing together. "I've not been this happy about an album in years," Ozzy said. "I'm not trying to sell my home. If this record was just OK, I'd fucking say it. But honestly, hand on heart, it's one of the best things I've done in my entire life." Ozzy also offered some thoughts on the situation surrounding originalSABBATH drummer Bill Ward, who backed out of the band's reunion last year.

Swedish melodic death metallers AMON AMARTH have released part one of their mini-documentary, "Forging Mjölnir". Filmed and directed byLuke Daley, the up-close-and-personal clip — which includes stunning black and white nature footage and Norse artwork — celebrates the imminent release of the band's ninth studio offering, "Deceiver Of The Gods". Watch the six-and-a-half minute segment where vocalist Johan Hegg and bassist Ted Lundström elaborate on the mythological themes found within their latest epic. Recorded at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, United Kingdom, and produced, mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap (OPETH, MEGADETH,EXODUS, ARCH ENEMY, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE), the follow-up to the band's critically acclaimed 2011 "Surtur Rising" full-length delivers ten fiery battle hymns made of buzzsaw riffs and epic harmonies all driven by vocalist Johan Hegg's commanding Viking roar and absorbing accounts of Norse crusades and treachery. "Deceiver Of The Gods" comes adorned with another outstanding Tom Thiel-created cover portraying a mythical battle between the Norse GodsLoki and Thor. THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER: Another New Song Available For Streaming

"Goat Of Departure", a brand new song from Michigan's unstoppable sons of molten melodic death metal THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, can be streamed using the SoundCloud widget below. The track comes off the band's sixth full-length album, "Everblack", which will be released on June 11 via Metal Blade Records. The CD was recorded at Audiohammer Studios (lead guitars and vocals), Rustbelt Studios (drums), and Regal Fecal (guitar and bass). Mixing was handled by Jason Suecof and Ryan Williams, mastering was completed by Alan Douches at West West Side Music (SEPULTURA, SUFFOCATION, UNEARTH) in New Windsor, New York. Frontman Trevor Strnad's horror-inspired lyrics persist on"Everblack", beginning with "In Hell Is Where She Waits For Me", a reference to the murder from which the band took for its moniker. The cover artwork was painted by renowned artist Nick Keller. Strnad elaborates on the lyrical concepts: "The opening track is the first actual song we've done about the Black Dahlia. This one is for the fans… they've been asking for this to happen for a long time. The story takes place at the Elizabeth Short's rain drenched funeral, where her killer in attendance… just one of the many macabre tales woven into the fabric of'Everblack'. Subterranean flesh-farming vampires, vine rape, Jeffery Dahmer, amputation… it's all here! With this sixth slab of sickness I tried my best to honor the band's legacy and write lyrics that will keep the legions of horror fiends perspiring with fear."

DEVILDRIVER: New Album Title, Cover Artwork Revealed

Californian metallers DEVILDRIVER have set "Winter Kills" as the title of their sixth album, due on August 27 via Napalm Records. The instrumental parts for the CD were recorded at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida while the vocals were laid down at singer Dez Fafara's home studio, with Mark Lewis (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER,WHITECHAPEL, ALL THAT REMAINS) handling production duties. The album's cover artwork features a photograph by Dean Karr. The layout was done by Ryan Clark of Invisible Creature. DEVILDRIVER previously worked with Lewis on 2011's "Beast" and 2007's"The Last Kind Words". Comments Fafara: "This is by far DEVILDRIVER's most cohesive, powerful, groove-laden record to date! "Brother", the new video from Israeli progressive folk metal mastersORPHANED LAND, can be seen below. The song comes off the band's sixth full-length album, "All Is One", which will be released in North America on June 25 (one day earlier internationally) via Century Media Records. The cover artwork for the follow-up to 2010's "The Never Ending Way Of ORwarriOR" was created by the French artistMetastazis (PARADISE LOST, AS I LAY DYING, SONNE ADAM,WATAIN) by perfectly incorporating the three biggest religious symbols into one piece of art. MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil recently spoke to Atlantic City Weeklyabout the band's continued success after going through "more ups and downs" in their three-decade-long career "than an elevator" "This is a brotherhood," Neil said. "You have your ups and downs. But we always make it through. We love making music with each other. It's pretty simple. Anybody who has been in a band for a while can relate to what I'm talking about. We've had our share of rough patches. I was out of the band for a few years and so was Tommy [Lee, drums], but we all know that this band works best when it's the four of us together. We were younger when we went through some things and I think it helps that we're all older and wiser."? Speaking about the pedal-to-the-metal lifestyle MÖTLEY CRÜE has enjoyed since the mid-'80s days of rock and roll debauchery and Sunset Strip excess, Neil said: "You look at the drugs and the drinking and it's amazing that we're all still here. We survived some dark days. We could have died many times from many different things. We made it through it and now we're in control and we're not going to stop living. None of us have that death wish. I think we're a little smarter at this age."?
